Fe Landon, an EarthStones user, wrote the following actual reading as part of her final project in her careers class. Thank you for allowing EarthStones and I to use it.
WHAT NOW?
It seems I have too many options. I am a bit overwhelmed. What should I do? Every day, I pray for guidance on what I should do in my life. Today, I said a prayer and pulled out some Earth Stones that an acquaintance of mine, Chayo, designed. They are small, clay, stone-like pieces with symbols embossed on them. I thought by doing a “present time cross reading”, this would give me some insight on what to do. I prayed, then selected 5 stones and arranged them in a cross shape in a certain order. I think one’s intent is important, and if one prays to the Divine, our Maker will know the meanings and symbolism of Chayo’s Earth Stones. The first stone to be picked has a certain meaning, the second stone, another meaning, etc. I will explain the meanings below. From my past experience, I have discovered that even though I may think I am in control, I am not. Too many synchronicities have happened in my life that I now realize I am not in total control. If I align myself with the Divine, then I might get some help if I were to use an intuitive tool like these Earth Stones. Of course, the reading could be subject to misinterpretation, so I need to use discernment.
PRESENT TIME CROSS READING
The 1st stone picked (and placed in the middle of the cross) has to do with the present. The 2nd stone picked (and placed to the left of the cross) has to do with the near past. The 3rd stone picked (and placed in the upper cross) has to do with what is guiding me. The 4th stone picked (and placed to the right of the cross) has to do with the near future. The 5th stone on the bottom of the cross has to do with what I need to do to stay grounded. The orientation of the symbols relative to the person reading the present time cross is important. For example, if the symbol is pointing to the right, it would have a different meaning than if it were pointing to the left.
#1 (Middle) stone is “what is affecting me now, what I need to realize or pay attention to.” The symbol of the eye represents clarity. This is what I need right now, clarity on what I need to do in my life. I need to “open my eyes and see what the truth is”, and to “have the ability to see neutrally without bias”. I am at a junction in my life where I need a lot of clarity. It is a time for reflection.
#2 (Left) stone “reflects my near past.” The symbol of the wing represents ready to fly or soar now. Because the wing is not in a position for flying, I think it means that in the past, I have been blocked in some way. It is true. I have felt dependent on my late husband, and I have always had difficulty making decisions. I have also had a life-long problem of being unable to speak up when I need to say something.
#3 (Upper) stone represents “what I am striving for or being guided by.” The symbol of this single leaf symbolizes solitude. It means I need to “take time out for myself”, to “take a break to re-charge”, “to find my answers within”, and to “listen and observe.” How do I get the clarity indicated by the reading of the #1 stone? By spending some time in reflection. I have not been doing enough of that (before this class). I need to re-charge by spending some time alone. This also resonates with another reading I had in the spring when someone did an I-Ching reading for me. I-ching is a Chinese divination method. I posed the question “what should I do with my life?” The I-Ching reader threw several coins in sequence and noted whether the coins were heads or tails. The sequencing and the orientation of the coins have significance. The person interpreting the reading said I need to spend a lot of time reflecting on what I need to do next. He also said that there was something that I did in the past that has been neglected for a long time, and that perhaps I should try to pay attention to that neglected area in my life. Perhaps this means I need to update my skills in engineering. I feel that this Earth Stone reading is in-line and supports this I-Ching reading.
#4 (Right) stone “reflects my near future.” The symbol is called “Sweetness with the Sorrow.” Its meaning is accepting the truth, allowing the flow, knowing what needs to be done for my wholeness. When the symbol is pointing to the right it means “living in the future, spending a lot of time and energy dreaming about the future.” To me, this stone reading combined with the #1 stone (clarity) and the #3 stone (reflection) means I should spend some time now reflecting on future careers. I feel that I am not yet ready to zoom in on any particular career. I need to spend more time in reflection and investigation.
#5 (Lower) stone is “information I need to stay grounded.” This symbol is called possibilities. It means “there is great potential now. Be open to all the information coming to you now. Consider all the possibilities. Be aware of my state of overwhelm or of spending too much time in my intellect.” This reading resonates with how I am feeling right now. I have too many possibilities to explore, and I am in a state of being overwhelmed.
In summary, the reading suggests that I need to spend some more time reflecting on my career, that I should remain open to more possibilities for awhile, that I should work on becoming more confident, work on decision-making, and work on finding my voice.
